Singin' in the Rain

Well, more like singing at church while ignoring cold, wet feet from walking twenty minutes through Kensington Park in the rain. But attending the Hyde Park Chapel was worth it.

After church, the rain had stopped, and so we walked through the park past Kensington Palace. Another detour past several of the foreign embassies followed, from such countries as France, Norway, Russia, and India.

And, as may be expected, dinner was that evening. Apparently I traveled over 5500 miles to do the dishes. Kitchen duty is assigned to each dorm for the duration of a week. The duty requires attendance an hour before dinner to help with the prep and transfer of the food from the basement kitchen to the upstairs dining room and servery (our word for the informal dining area). It also includes cleaning up after the meal, and getting all of the dishes clean and back to their cupboards. The dumbwaiter is man's greatest invention. There are several different tasks and areas that we rotate. But despite there being seven assigned to the task, I'm the one that ends up next to the sink with the scrub brush each time.

After the completion of KP, a small group, including myself, decided to get out of the Centre and go see the town. What is there to do sans clubbing at nine at night? Taking the Tube to Westminster Station, walking up the stairs to ground level with Big Ben glowing above you. There is nothing so spectacular. We then crossed the river, walked past the Eye, crossed back, and despite many Tube delays and breakdowns made it back to crash into bed at one in the morning.
